PTA Reflections Program

Explore the Arts and Express Yourself! For 50 years, National PTA’s Reflections program has helped students explore their own thoughts, feelings, and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create and submit original works of art in one or all of the available arts categories.

  • Dance choreography
  • Literature
  • Photography
  • Film production
  • Music composition
  • Visual arts

This year’s theme is Hero’s Around Me. Entries are due by October 29th and will be judged on October 30th. A brainstorming workshop will be held during lunch on Tuesday, October 23rd  to help get those creative juices flowing! More information is available here.

Hedenkamp Sports

We are looking forward to watching our student athletes on the soccer fields and basketball courts.  We would like to have several teams at Hedenkamp this year!  Please let us know if you are interested in coaching basketball or soccer.  Our sports teams are typically available to 4th through 6th grade students that try out and make the teams.  If we have enough available volunteer coaches, we could also field a junior soccer team.  Please email Mr. DeVore or Mrs. Mazeau if you are interested in volunteering your time for our Hedenkamp Athletics Program.

Family Math Night

We are looking forward to Family Math Night on November 7th.  All families are invited to join us for a fun evening of mathematics! The fun will begin at 5:30 p.m.  Please check out the flyer on PeachJar. We hope to see you all there!

Book Fair

Mark your calendars!! Come to discover the magical books available at our Enchanted Forest Book Fair from November 5th to the 8th. Times and volunteer opportunities will be posted on the blog!

Sandag Construction Update

As you know, SanDag construction is taking place on East Palomar.  We wanted to let you know in advance that construction will begin in the center median in front of Hedenkamp on or around November 1st.  When construction begins on the center median area near Hedenkamp, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.  We recently heard some good news that left turns will be permitted on Brashear during the construction period.  Again, we expect this new traffic pattern will begin around November 1st.  We are working closely with our district transportation and safety teams to develop a plan to help ensure student safety and maximize traffic flow as best as possible.  We will continue to update you as soon as we have additional information.

Please check out the learning and fun we had at Hedenkamp last week! (Link includes great Husky Howl pictures too!)
