RED RIBBON WEEK
We had a great Red Ribbon Week at Hedenkamp. We appreciate Mr. Camarena taking time out of his busy schedule to present for our students. Thank you so much to Mrs. Camarena for her dedication and commitment to our students. Each year, she makes a difference to the Hedenkamp Community by raising our awareness and understanding of Red Ribbon Week.
Our students are to be commended for their awareness and understanding of the danger of illegal drugs. They did a fabulous job creating classroom door decorations with their commitment to stay drug free. Students will vote on their favorite door decorations this week!
MORNING PROCEDURES AT HEDENKAMP
As you know, our school day begins at 8:45 a.m. We have many students that arrive very early at Hedenkamp. We do not have supervision available until 8:00 a.m. Students should not be dropped off before that time. Beginning at 8:00 a.m., students may eat breakfast, work in the library, or participate in the Husky Hustle! Those three options are the only available activities prior to 8:40 when students may line up for class. If your child does not want to eat breakfast, visit the library, or walk or run in the Husky Hustle, they should not be on campus early. All students on campus between 8:00 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. will need to participate in one of the three activities mentioned. Parents are welcome to walk or run with their child in the morning or to help with the Husky Hustle. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with these procedures.
We are looking forward to watching our Huskies play soccer and basketball against other schools soon! We need your help though! If you would like to coach or assist with coaching, please let Mr. DeVore or Mrs. Mazeau know as soon as possible. We would like to have teams for both boys and girls. We hope you will consider volunteering your time to coach a team for our Huskies!

SANDAG CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
As you know, SanDag construction is taking place on East Palomar. We wanted to let you know in advance that construction will begin in the center median in front of Hedenkamp on or around November 5th. When construction begins on the center median area near Hedenkamp, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. We recently heard some good news that left turns will be permitted on Brashear during the construction period. Again, we expect this new traffic pattern will begin around November 1st. We are working closely with our district transportation and safety teams to develop a plan to help ensure student safety and maximize traffic flow as best as possible. We will continue to update you as soon as we have additional information.
