We can’t believe it is already the last week of classes for 2018 and that half of the school year is coming to a close. Thank you to each of our families for your support and dedication to our Hedenkamp community. We are grateful for all of you! On behalf of all of us at Hedenkamp, we want to wish everyone a terrific Winter Break. It has been a fantastic first half of the school year! Our students are amazing and we are fortunate to have the best teachers and staff in the Chula Vista Elementary School District.
TIS’ THE SEASON FOR CANDY CANE GRAMS!
Our annual sixth grade fundraiser is well underway. Our sixth grade students are selling candy cane grams through December 20th. Students, staff, and parents may purchase candy cane grams for their friends and families during lunch time. Candy Cane Grams are 75 cents each or two for a dollar. All monies raised will be used for 6th grade end-of-the-year activities!
Theatrical Ensemble Winter Performance
We are so excited for our Theatrical Ensemble performances this week! Our evening performances are December 18th and 19th at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. There are a limited number of tickets available and will be sold at the door on each night of the performances. Our Ensemble students, staff, and boosters have worked so hard to prepare for our performances of Holiday Road Trip. Please take a moment to thank everyone involved with our Ensemble for their hard work and dedication. We are so proud of everyone involved! We continue to be so impressed with our phenomenal Theatrical Ensemble!
Report cards will be sent home Friday with your students. Please let us know if you have any questions.
If you would like your students to practice skills over the break, please check out the many options under Student Links. Achieve 3000, Go Math, MobyMax, Imagine Learning, Raz Kids, and Khan Academy are all available to your students at home. All students that complete at least 8 Achieve articles at 75% or higher over the winter break will be rewarded for their hard work. BrainPop is another great site to learn about history and science. It is also a great way to increase vocabulary and comprehension. Please call the school or your child’s teacher prior to winter break if you have any questions about our software tools.
Lost and Found
As the second quarter comes to a close, please be sure to stop by the lost and found to identify any of your child’s belongings. We will be donating all unclaimed items on Friday, December 21.
Our third quarter will begin on Tuesday, January 15. Please keep in mind that day is a minimum day. All Kindergarten students will attend from 8:45 – 1:25. All 1st – 6th grade students will be dismissed at 1:55. We are looking forward to a wonderful third quarter with our students!
